About Wood and Stone

Wood and Stone is the studio of Terry Booth, a New Zealand–based CNC artist and designer working at the intersection of digital technology and hand craftsmanship. Working alongside clients and creatives to bring thoughtful ideas to life in native materials through a blend of digital precision and hand craft.

Combining CAD modelling and CNC machining with careful hand detailing and surface finishing, the work enhances the natural beauty of wood, stone and metal. The primary focus is native and richly grained timbers, alongside silver, copper and selected materials where the design requires it.

Recent projects include CNC-machined silver and copper hinges and clasps, as well as embedded silver, paua and copper details in native kauri pieces. A dedicated jewellery workshop now supports the design and fabrication of handcrafted metal components and custom jewellery work.

From an artistic perspective the aim is to combine wood, metal and stone into forms that feel natural and balanced. Modern precision tools are used to achieve simplicity of form and tactile quality.

From a practical perspective projects are approached with efficiency and material optimisation in mind. Careful setup strategy and considered design reduce waste and machine time, helping achieve strong visual and functional results within a realistic budget.

Every project must work well, look right, and feel right.
